My Background

After receiving my Masters degree in Plant Protection and Pest Management from U.C. Davis I worked as a pest control adviser in Stanislaus and Merced Counties for eleven years. In 1988, I joined a large farm management firm where I was responsible for supervision of farm managers on 6000 acres of diverse crops including almonds, citrus, grapes and olives.

In 1992, I teamed up with Tim Sylvester to form PSI Farming. Together we manage almonds, walnuts and stone fruits in and around Stanislaus County. Tim semi-retired at the end of 2015 and I started my newest venture, AlmondFarmer.com in January 2015 providing farm management services.
For many years I've enjoyed serving as a member of the Production Research Committee of the Almond Board.  I also served for 10 years as the secretary / treasurer of the East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District. Currently I am chairing the Almond Boards Strategic Ag Innovation Committee.

From 1992 through 1994, I had the privilege of being part of the California Agricultural Leadership program, Class XXIV.

My wife Joyce, and I have 2 wonderful sons and two precious grandchildren, Charlie and Maura.
